ANDREW CARVAJAL

"MY SPECIALTY IS HELPING CLIENTS MAKE CANADA THEIR HOME"

Andrew Carvajal

I am a Toronto lawyer licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada and partner at Desloges Law Group. I received a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill University.

My immigration practice focuses on permanent residence applications under federal and provincial economic programs, all types of business immigration, applications for sponsorship under the family class and temporary residence applications. I also appear frequently for clients at the Immigration and Refugee Board, as well other administrative tribunals.

In addition to my immigration practice, I represent individuals and corporations in administrative matters, professional and academic discipline cases, as well as Small Claims Court litigation. My professional discipline practice includes the representation of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants in complaint and discipline proceedings before their regulatory council.

Besides my work at Desloges Law Group, I am a part-time instructor in the Immigration Consulting program at Herzing College and a guest speaker in a number of immigration education programs and seminars organized by professional associations and community centres. I am also a frequent contributor to several publications dealing with immigration, refugee and administrative law and have been invited to speak about immigration changes on local and national news segments.

Prior to practising law, I was a sociology professor at McGill University and a university researcher in projects dealing with criminal justice, equality laws, family transformation and social research methods.

As a native Colombian, I am fully fluent in Spanish and an active member of the Toronto Hispanic community. I am the current President of the Canadian Colombian Professional Association (CCPA).

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, attending networking events, tennis, art and running. I am also a wine enthusiast and enjoy exploring new wines and hosting wine tastings.
