Changes to Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP)
The Province of Quebec recently announced changes to its several of it’s immigration programs, including the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP). This program has historically been quite popular, last year filling its quota of 1,900.
Previously, applicants were required to have net assets amounting to $1.6 million Canadian dollars and required an investment of $800,000 CAD. The program now requires net assets of $2,000,000 CAD. In addition, the investment requirement has been raised to a five-year investment of $1,200,000 CAD, some of which can be financed.
Applicants will also have to meet the following requirements to be eligible:
being over the age of 18
having experience in management
intending to settle in Quebec
obtaining a passing score in the Quebec points system.
It is projected that these changes will be put into practice this coming August. Until the changes are implemented, Quebec Immigration will no longer be accepting applicants for this program.
