A partir del 1º de junio de 2018, entrarán en vigencia nuevas regulaciones que amplían las posibilidades de personas con necesidades especiales de inmigrar a Canadá, tanto en forma temporal como permanente. El gobierno canadiense ha decidido reevaluar una polémica cláusula de inadmisibilidad médica que forma parte de las normas migratorias. Dicha cláusula permite negar la entrada y/o residencia permanente a personas con necesidades especiales o con familiares acompañantes que sufran algún tipo de discapacidad, alegando que podrían generarse una demanda excesiva en el sistema de servicios sociales y de salud pública. Changes to Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP)

The Province of Quebec recently announced changes to its several of it’s immigration programs, including the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP). This program has historically been quite popular, last year filling its quota of 1,900. Previously, applicants were required to have net assets amounting to $1.6 million Canadian dollars and required an investment of $800,000 CAD. The program now requires net assets of $2,000,000 CAD. In addition, the investment requirement has been raised to a five-year investment of $1,200,000 CAD, some of which can be financed. New Immigration Stream for Doctors in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia has decided to make changes to bring more doctors to their province. Earlier this week, they announced that they have opened a new immigration stream for foreign trained doctors. This change will allow new immigration applications for doctors to be processed in 5 to 10 days from the time of application. This fast-tracked application comes as the province has made steps to bypass some of the bureaucracy surrounding bringing internationally trained doctors to Canada.
